VOLCLAY - Sodium Bentonite (22.68 kg) 

VOLCLAY bentonite-based floor sealants are composed of granular and powdered sodium bentonite. They provide economical and low-permeability floor coatings suitable for a wide variety of containment applications.

Once mixed with the soil and hydrated, VOLCLAY bentonite-based sealants expand up to fifteen times their original volume, forming a mechanical bond with the surrounding soil and filling the voids between the particles. This creates a barrier that effectively stops water infiltration and significantly reduces soil permeability.

Bentonite resists desiccation, hydration and freeze-thaw cycles without losing its sealing properties.

Mode of action

When mixed with soil and hydrated, VOLCLA Y bentonite-based soil sealants swell up to 15 times their original volume, forming a mechanical bond with the surrounding soil and filling the voids between particles. This creates an effective barrier that stops all infiltration and significantly reduces soil permeability.

Thanks to their high swelling capacity, VOLCLAY bentonite-based soil sealants allow the hydraulic conductivity of soils to be reduced on site with a small quantity.
