Security notice: fraudulent email sent in our name
Published October 21, 2026
On October 20, 2026, a fraudulent email was sent to our contacts from our address info@fgedwards.ca. That email did not come from us. Our email account was hacked on October 15. We cut off the attacker's access on October 20.
Did you receive this email?
Its subject was "F.G. Edwards INC." and it asked you to view a "proposal" and then enter a code or your sign-in details on a Microsoft page.
If you only received or opened it, or clicked the link without entering anything: delete it. There is nothing else you need to do.
If you entered a code, your email address or your password:
- Sign your account out of all sessions and all devices. Changing your password is not enough, because this type of attack can give access to the account without the password.
- Then change your password, along with any other account where you use the same one, and turn on two-step verification.
- If it's a work account, tell whoever handles your IT today. Your account could be used to send the same email to your own contacts.
Stay alert
The attacker may have viewed our past email exchanges and could use them to make fake messages more convincing.
- Any change to our banking details will always be confirmed by phone. If you receive a request in our name for a payment or a change of banking details, call us at 450-263-2008 before paying.
- Be wary of emails that mention F.G. Edwards, an order or an invoice and ask you to click a link or enter a code.
- We will never ask you to enter a code or your email password to view a document.
What we have done
- We blocked the hacked account and ended all of its sessions.
- We moved our email to a new system and strengthened its protection.
- We reported the fraudulent page, which is now flagged as dangerous by Google.
- We are writing directly to everyone who received the fraudulent email.
Information involved
The attacker had access to that account from October 15 to 20, 2026, including its messages and contact list. Those messages may contain information about customers, suppliers, job applicants and current or former employees: names, contact details (email address, phone number, postal address), order or invoice details, and the content of exchanges with that account.
Payments made on our website or in store do not go through that account and are not affected.
We are contacting directly the people whose more sensitive information may be involved.
