Ease Up is a calming feed supplement that helps maintain a horse's normal temperament, promoting a more relaxed demeanor. Ingredients: L-taurine, tryptophan, magnesium proteinate, GABA, thiamine hydrochloride, distillers' grains. DIRECTIONS FOR USE (HORSES): Administer 25 g per day (1 scoop is approximately 25 g).
Neurotransmitters are chemical substances produced by nerve cells. They transmit signals from one nerve cell (neuron) to another and have numerous receptors in the brain, organs, muscles, and the digestive, respiratory, and olfactory systems. They thus regulate many processes, including emotions.
Serotonin and GABA (gamma-butyric acid) are important neurotransmitters for relaxation. They help reduce anxiety and improve the ability to adapt to stressful or new situations, such as competitions, intensive training, confinement, or travel.
Ninety percent of serotonin is produced in the digestive tract by endocrine cells called enterochromaffin (EC) cells. Serotonin is responsible not only for improving behavior, reducing anxiety, and having a calming effect, but also for its impact on digestion, appetite, and pain management. Studies conducted by the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena have shown that a healthy gut microbiota increases serotonin levels, resulting in improved well-being and a more relaxed state in horses with good intestinal health.
Efficient serotonin production also requires the essential amino acid tryptophan, as well as several cofactors such as vitamin B6 and magnesium.
Another calming neurotransmitter is GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), synthesized from the amino acids taurine and glutamine. GABA transmits chemical messages to the brain and nervous system and reduces stress by preventing the overexcitation of neurons, particularly when horses are exposed to new environments, loud noises, or during transport.
GABA plays an important role in improving stress management, allowing horses to better understand and discern new environments and situations.
Ease Up is an excellent anti-stress formula containing GABA, a calming neurotransmitter, as well as tryptophan and vitamin B6, essential for serotonin production. GABA and serotonin promote relaxation and stress management. Ease Up also contains other calming nutrients such as magnesium, taurine, thiamine (B1), and inositol (B8), which contribute to the proper functioning of the central nervous system, thus improving concentration and relaxation.
