Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know when the float needs replacing in my Canarm waterer?
The float (H0-P4836) controls the water level in your Canarm heated waterer by opening and closing the fill valve. Signs it needs replacement:
- Waterer overflowing: If water constantly runs out or the bowl is always too full, the float is not rising properly to shut off the valve. The float ball may be cracked and waterlogged (losing buoyancy), or the float arm may be bent.
- Waterer never fills: If the bowl stays empty even with water pressure present, the float may be stuck in the closed position, preventing the valve from opening.
- Erratic water level: The bowl fills inconsistently — sometimes too full, sometimes too low. This suggests the float is failing intermittently.
- Visible damage: Cracks in the float ball allow it to fill with water, making it sink permanently and hold the valve open.
The H0-P4836 float pairs with the H0-P4300 fill valve — if you are replacing one, inspect the other at the same time.
Will the H0-P4836 float work with my older Canarm waterer?
The Canarm H0-P4836 float is designed to work with Canarm heated waterers that use the H0-P4300 fill valve — which has been the standard valve in Canarm waterers since 1993. If your waterer was manufactured after 1993, this float should be compatible.
The float connects to the valve via a standard arm and ball assembly. Compatibility is determined by the valve model, not the waterer model. If you have already confirmed your waterer uses the H0-P4300 valve, the H0-P4836 float will fit.
For waterers manufactured before 1993, the valve design may differ. Check the data plate on your waterer or refer to your installation manual to confirm compatibility.
