Loose flavoured salt for establishing a lick or restarting a site that’s gone quiet. Three flavours, one price.
Choosing a flavour
- Apple — the most versatile for white-tailed deer. Start here if you’re building a first site.
- Anise — a Quebec classic. The scent carries and holds up in wet weather.
- Sulphur — for moose sites. Sulphur draws game to the damp ground they like to paw at. Use during the baiting period.
How to use
- Pour onto open ground and work it into the soil rather than leaving it in a pile.
- Choose a spot that holds moisture — the salt soaks in and the site carries from one season to the next.
- Refresh in spring and late summer. A lick is better for being established well in advance.
- Pair with corn or FRED’S 1928 Mélasse during the baiting period.
Size: 3.5 kg (7.7 lb) per bag.
Legal note
Saline substances, such as apple- and anise-flavoured salt, are permitted year-round. Baiting white-tailed deer with non-saline bait — corn, apples, molasses — is permitted from 1 September to 30 November only, and feeding cervids outside that period is prohibited.
