Every conductor needs insulators, connectors and a strainer for its width; the compatibility list on each product page shows which ones.
Installation
How to install it
-
1Install the insulators
Fix a matching insulator to each post at the height you want. Keep the same height from post to post.
-
2Run out the conductor
Unroll it along the line without letting it drag on the ground. Clip it into each insulator as you go.
-
3Tension it with a strainer
Fit an inline strainer near an end post and tighten until the conductor runs straight, without overdoing it.
-
4Connect to the energizer
Connect the line to the energizer with a jumper cable, then check the fence is live with a fence tester.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
How much fence can I run with this roll?
The roll length covers a single line of fence. For a multi-wire fence, divide the roll length by the number of wires you want. Allow some extra for wrapping posts and ties.
How do I join two lengths?
Use a matching Sentinel connector rather than a knot. A tight knot cuts the metal strands and drops conductivity. The connector keeps both current and tension along the line.
Do I need a specific insulator?
Yes. Pick the insulator by conductor width and post type (wood, T-post or round). See the Compatibility section on this page and our Sentinel insulator range.
How do I know this part fits my fence?
Two things in the compatibility list on this page: the post type (wood, T-post or round) and the conductor (wire, tape or rope) with its size. If in doubt, a photo of the setup sent to our team by e-mail lets us check.
How do I get it?
Shipped by carrier anywhere in Québec, delivered by our own truck in our local delivery area (Tuesday to Thursday), or free pickup in Bedford or West Brome. The postal code entered under "How to get it", on this page, gives the answer for your address; the exact shipping cost shows in the cart, before you pay.
Can I return a part that does not fit?
Yes, within 30 days of receipt, as long as the part is unused: in store, or by mail after writing to us for the return instructions.
How many do I need?
Insulators: one per post and per strand. Conductor: fence length times the number of strands, plus about 1 m per strand at each end for ties. Insulator, conductor, handle and strainer pages do the math under the add button; the fence calculator does the whole fence.
Still have a question?
Our team answers fit and sizing questions in store, by phone and by e-mail.
